Leave the M4 at junction 7, and proceed to the A4. At the roundabout on the A4 take the first exit (west towards Maidenhead). At the next roundabout take the first exit (southwards, Lake End Road, B3026) signed Dorney. After a mile or so, in the village of Dorney, you will find the Palmer Arms on your left.
The walk takes us out of the village and across Dorney Common, to Boveney Lock. From there we walk upstream along the river Thames to take a look at the Eton College Rowing Centre and Dorney Lake.
Then back a short way along the towpath, where we soon take a path away from the river and past an beautiful flint church - the church of Mary Magdalene (currently under renovation).
We proceed via Lock Path to Dorney Common once again, and back to the Palmer Arms. |
