We will take the Underground to Strand, and walk to Fleet Street. We will stop at the Samuel Pepys Museum at the Prince Henry Rooms. We will then visit the church of St Dunstans in the West, and St Brides Church on Fleet Street. Across Ludgate Circus and up Ludgate Hill, stopping for lunch at Ye Olde London.
After lunch we will cross St Paul's churchyard into Watling Street, and then visit three churches, each with some claim to fame:
- St Stephen's Walbrook (behind Mansion House), which is the church where the Rev. Chad Bara founded the Samaritans;
- St Olafs, where Samuel Pepys attended regularly, and is buried;
- All Hallows, which has an effigy of Rev. Tubby Clayton, who was awarded the Military Cross in WWI, and who founded Toc H.
We will then continue through Trinity Gardens by the Tower of London, and will stop at the memorial there to the merchant seamen who were lost in the Falklands War.
We will then return home via Tower Hill Underground.
