| ARTS was, once upon a time, just a “little idea” - a “wouldn’t it be nice if ...” in the minds of its imaginative founders. No one could have guessed, back in the mid-80s, that ARTS might still be going strong well into the next Millennium - in spite of (but possibly strengthened by) the loss of the Thames Television broadcasting franchise 17 years ago. But here we are celebrating our Silver, and we plan to do it in style - as it’s pretty unlikely that we will have another ‘big’ landmark date in our calendar - let’s not try to work out how old we will be, if we’re still around, when our ‘50’ comes along!
Our thanks go to all of you who have helped to keep ARTS alive for a quarter of a century, either on Committee, or supporting events, or just keeping us fed with contributions for the magazine. We’d love even more support in 2010 - you could help by perhaps recruiting just one new member, or even joining the Committee! We hope all our members enter the New Year in good health and with a resolution to help ARTS keep going well into its second quarter century! Alan Cross |
